The Rally
The Rebelle Rally is the longest navigation-based rally raid in the country, covering over 2,500 kilometers of stunning, challenging terrain across the mountains and deserts of the western United States.
The Team
Amanda Walden and Kirstin Backes are Rebelle Rally Team 189, Fortune & Glory. While this will be both competitors’ third year of competition in the rally, this will be their first year as a team.
The Mission
Veterans know how to play the game, and we’ve seen what makes winners win. We’re working a training plan that aligns with our areas of opportunity, with our eyes on a podium finish.

In the Temple of Doom, Dr. Jones is asked what an artifact means to him, and this is the answer.
It’s common in events like the Rebelle to see teams pursuing exposure for important causes, or running a vehicle that was left to them by an important figure in their life who has passed. Incredible feats of competition done to honor important people.
While we love and respect whatever gets our fellow Rebelles to the start and finish lines, we’re not chasing that kind of mission. There’s no higher cause we’re after, no great legacy driving our team.
We’re here for the fortune and glory, kid.
The constant drive to stay scrappy, to grow our skills, push ourselves, and test our limits is what keeps us in the game. We do it because we’re inherently competitive people, and we like to work hard. We do it for personal growth and improvement. But mostly, we do it because we can.
There’s no fortune, and only a very niche sort of glory to be found atop the the podium at a navigation rally raid – it’s also a joke.
